Summary:

The polygon was derived from a normalized burn ratio (NBR) threshold derived via Sentinel-2 near-infrared and shortwave-infrared bands. A NBR threshold for the binary burned classification was set to values <= -0.0999. Any NBR values that exceeded this threshold were classified as unburned and exluded from the polygon. This is a conservative threshold for classifying burned area and likely omits areas of lower intensity burning. Additionally, classified burned areas smaller than 50 contiguous Sentinel-2 pixels (~2 hectare) were removed from the polygon generation.

Credits:

Copernicus Sentinel-2, Clayton Elder (ARC)

Esri REST Endpoint:

See URL to the right.

WMS Endpoint:

https://gis.earthdata.nasa.gov/gis05/services/DISASTERS_202605_FIRE_KS/202608_sentinel2_nbrburnperimeter/MapServer/WMSServer
",
